Everything you need to get started with Oceara

Quickstart

  1. Create an Oceara account and sign in.
  2. Upload FASTQ files (paired-end R1/R2 or single-end).
  3. Enter sample metadata like location, collection date, and primer.
  4. Start analysis and monitor progress in your dashboard.
  5. Review species results, AI interpretation, and the printable report.

File Requirements

  • Accepted formats: .fastq, .fastq.gz, .fq, .fq.gz.
  • Paired-end data should include both R1 and R2 reads.
  • Single-end data should be labeled clearly (for example, sample_R1).
  • Maximum file size: 2GB per file.

Required Metadata

  • Sample name and collection date.
  • Collection location (coordinates or region).
  • Environment type and primer/marker selection.
  • Optional site name and collection method.

Optional Enhancements

  • Region polygons for spatial summaries.
  • Custom reference databases (pilot only).
  • Team tags for dashboards and reports.

Pipeline Stages

  • Quality control and primer trimming.
  • Denoising and contaminant removal.
  • Taxonomy assignment and consensus building.
  • Plausibility checks and expert review flags.
  • Discovery detection and AI interpretation.

Understanding Results

  • Confidence scores indicate how strongly reads match references.
  • Discovery flags highlight taxa not previously seen at the location.
  • AI summaries translate outputs into plain-language insights.
  • Live status indicators show progress as runs complete.

Reports and Sharing

  • Printable report view for field teams and stakeholders.
  • Sample chat to ask questions about results.
  • Dashboard status tracking for every sample.
